About Patrick

Patrick grew up in Lyndon in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont before moving to Chittenden County to attend UVM after high school. The oldest of five siblings growing up in one of the most economically depressed areas of our state, he is personally aware of the struggles facing low-income Vermonters. Having a job throughout his teenage years and college was not just an option but an expectation; working at greenhouses, at farms bailing hay and shoveling roofs in winter. This has given him the experience of blue-collar labor so often missing in modern politicians. His parents still live there, holding weddings on hills overlooking the Green Mountains and NEK farmlands. He's the proud father to a ten-year old daughter, his most ardent supporter.

After attending college, Patrick went into the telecommunications industry, starting at Sovernet a local company that granted an in-depth view of the state's infrastructure. Having been employed as a repair technician for nearly twenty years, he continues to stay apprised of the telecommunications infrastructure statewide. He approaches that infrastructure with an understanding that ranges from the dial-up services of the past to the business scale fiber solutions of the future and everything between.

In support of his community, Patrick spent a decade as an actor, writer, and producer of Nightmare Vermont, a local Halloween theater experience. Each year, half of the profit brought in would be donated to charitable causes including the South Burlington Rotary, Women Helping Battered Women, Del's Ride, and Camp! The resulting efforts over the years have totaled over $100,000 given to causes in need throughout Vermont. As a member of the Essex Rotarians, he is connected to local business and community leaders throughout our Town and always stands ready to help those in need.

Patrick's municipal government experience extends back to an appointment on the Prudential Committee in Essex Junction and then election to the Essex Westford School Board of Directors in 2017. Patrick sat as a representative for the Regional Advisory Board for the Center for Technology Essex and the Burlington Technical Center for two years. On the EWSD he was a member of the Communications task team and author of the bi-weekly community updates. He was also a member of the Transportation sub-committee, tasked with revising a new policy to address the transportation difficulties facing EWSD during its busing crisis, eventually resulting in services being extended into Essex Junction for the first time. In November of 2018, Patrick was elected to serve a 2-year term as an Essex Justice of the Peace. In March 2019, he won a seat on the Town of Essex Selectboard where in this last year he was voted to the position of the Vice-Chair. With the expiration of his school board term, extended additional months due to the COVID-19 crisis he was appointed as Essex's alternate to the Chittenden Solid Waste District board of directors.
